Program Details
This Algonquin Park guided group canoe day trip is the perfect way to experience 'canoe tripping' without having to sleep in a tent. Your 6 hour adventure navigates into secluded corners of Algonquin Provincial Park. We paddle across historic Canoe Lake, carry over an easy 300m portage and enjoy a lakeside meal (Henrietta's meat or veggie sandwich & granola bar) on all tours. Cliff jumping (1-6m for those who want), a short (1.8km) hike to a panoramic look and picking wild berries during their respective season is also included. Your guide will teach about basic canoeing skills, the history of Algonquin Park and Tom Thomson, and the flora/fauna encountered during the trip.
Although no paddling experience is required, participants of this adventure must be fit enough for 4.5 hours of hard sweaty paddling. We try to limit our day trip groups to 11 participants. Participants over the age of 7 are welcome (7-8 yrs old will not paddle). However, whiney people of any age or those who might ask "are we there yet?", after 15 minutes of effort, are not. Those who prefer not working hard paddling for several hours, or with kids age 6 & under, should consider our Algonquin Park 3h VIP electric canoe tour.
With limited space and rave reviews, our tours fill up quickly. So please make your reservations early.
Although we have encountered moose, deer, beaver, muskrat, heron, loon, turtle, frog, bear, racoon and fish on our Algonquin Park day trips, as with all wilderness tours, animal encounters are a rather random and rare occurrence. However, a skilled guide definitely increases the chances of a memorable and safe educational adventure. Please note that our multiday canoe safaris offer the best opportunities for successful wildlife observation.
Custom tours are always available for any time and group size - just contact us for more information. Trips are run rain or shine (as long as there is no lightning). We may delay departure by up to 1 hour. Refund/credits will be only be issued if a trip is canceled for lightning. Life jackets are provided and MUST be worn at all times. Participants will need to purchase their 'hwy 60 corridor' vehicle day permit on https://reservations.ontarioparks.com/, up to 5 days before arrival (do it as soon as possible). They can also be purchased at any park office on arrival, but it is much smarter to by it online, in advance, if possible.
